Meet Lori Stead From Wet Silver

Meet Lori Stead From Wet Silver

There is something powerful about being truly seen, and that is exactly what Lori Stead has built her work around. As the owner of Wet Silver Photography in Corpus Christi, Lori has spent nearly two decades behind the camera refining her craft and creating portraits that go far beyond a single moment.

Her work is not just about photography. It is about connection, confidence, and helping people, especially women, see themselves in a different light. Through her boudoir and portrait sessions, she has created a space where women can step out of self-doubt and into a version of themselves that feels strong, confident, and fully seen.

With a blend of technical precision and genuine care for the person in front of her lens, Lori creates images that feel timeless, personal, and meant to be held onto. From newborns and families to seniors, professionals, and transformative boudoir sessions, her work is rooted in intention, experience, and empowerment.

I sat down with Lori to talk about her journey, her process, and what continues to inspire her work.

Q: Tell us a little about Wet Silver Photography and how you got started.

Hi, and thank you so much for having me... I'm Lori Stead, and I own Wet Silver Photography right here in Corpus Christi. I've been behind a camera for nearly two decades, and over the years my work has grown into something I love calling fine art portraiture. We're a full-service studio on South Staples, and we photograph everything from newborns and families to seniors, maternity, engagements, headshots, and boudoir. Every session is designed around the person in front of my lens, because the goal isn't just a pretty picture, it's something you'll want to display and pass down.

Q: What makes Wet Silver different from other Corpus Christi photographers?

Honestly, I think it comes down to care and craft. I take the time before every session to understand what you actually want, and then I put in the hours to deliver it. I've been editing in Photoshop almost as long as I've been shooting, so the finishing work is magazine style. Trends come and go, but I've always been drawn to timeless images, the kind that still feel beautiful twenty years from now. My clients tell me they feel respected, celebrated, and genuinely seen, and that matters to me more than anything else.

Q: Who do you love to photograph?

Oh, all of them, truly. Newborns have my whole heart because those early days go by in a blink, and maternity sessions are such a tender time to capture. Seniors are a blast, because we get to celebrate this huge milestone and build a portrait that reflects who they've become. Families keep me grounded, and headshot clients remind me how powerful a good image can be for a business. And then there's boudoir, which honestly might be the most transformative work I do.

Q: Speaking of boudoir... tell us about that side of the business.

Wet Silver Boudoir is its own whole experience, and I'm so proud of the space we've built. It's private, luxurious, and completely judgment-free, and the goal is to help every woman feel comfortable, confident, and celebrated exactly as she is. I guide the posing from start to finish, so nobody has to worry about "knowing what to do," and the transformations we capture... they're really something. Women come in nervous and leave standing taller, and that never gets old for me.

Q: What can a new client expect when booking with you?

A real conversation, first of all.  My number is on my site and I make myself available for any questions, concerns, and just to get people comfortable. From there I help with styling, wardrobe, and all the little details, and hair and makeup is available right in the studio. On session day you just show up and let me handle the rest... that's the whole point. And when the images are ready, you choose your favorites.

Q: Your work leans heavily into "heirloom" pieces. Why is that so important to you?

Because a file on a phone isn't a legacy. Printed, framed, beautifully finished artwork on your walls is what your grandkids will point to one day and say, "that's us." I want my clients to invest in something tangible, because that's where the real magic of portraiture lives. Digital images are wonderful, but a gorgeous canvas of your newborn in your own hands, or a custom album from a boudoir session, those are the things that become family history.

Q: What advice would you give someone who's nervous about being photographed?

First, you're not alone... almost everyone feels that way, including me when the camera turns around. Second, a good photographer will guide you the entire time, so you're never left standing there wondering what to do with your hands. Trust the process, wear something that makes you feel like yourself, and come ready to have a little fun. I promise you'll leave feeling better about yourself than when you walked in.

Q: What's the best way for someone to reach out?

The easiest thing is to call or text the studio at 361-445-4661, or head over to wetsilver.com for portraits and wetsilverboudoir.com for boudoir. I'd love to hear what you're dreaming up, and I'd be honored to help bring it to life. Let's make something beautiful together

Sitting down with Lori Stead, what really stood out to me was not just the level of skill she brings to her work, but how much intention is behind it. You can feel that she genuinely cares about the people in front of her, especially the women who walk into her space unsure of themselves and walk out seeing something completely different.

There is something powerful about that kind of work. It is not just about taking a photo, it is about holding space for someone to feel confident, to feel seen, and to reconnect with a version of themselves they may have lost along the way. That is something I deeply understand and respect, because in my own work, it always comes back to that same thing. Supporting women in coming back to themselves in a real and lasting way.

Talking with her, it is clear that what she has built with Wet Silver Photography is more than a business. It is an experience, one that leaves an impact long after the session is over.

It was an honor to sit with her, hear her story, and witness the intention behind what she does.
